first shot (or two...)

night started at 7ish (we missed the first place called crown & anchor), went straight to Ballroom, then to Shotz (the place has bad music, bad drinks, and its smokey- NOT recommended. we left and went back to ballroom for a couple of games of pool. then queued for over an hour to get into Mansions which wasnt too bad.

feet hurt.
very sleepy.

its such a GLOOMY day today. i got up at 7:10ish and it was pretty dark outside. weird for summer weather.
Turns out it rained last night because the roads were all wet...
It's already almost 10am and theres still no sign of a SUN. Yesterday was sort of gloomy too. There was an airplane that flew over us when we were walking back from the library so we looked up, and it wasn't very high but it disappeared in the clouds pretty quickly! I've never seen it so cloudy in sunny Adelaide...
It sucks that the library only opens at 10am... I finished class this morning at 9. I have to wait till 10 to go to the library. i need to get home around 11 cuz i need to have lunch before my lecture at 12-2. Either that or i eat something now so i don't get hungry until 2pm and only have lunch then...
I had nutella on bread this morning. I'm hungry already...

I can't concentrate at home. that's why i want the library. stupid library opens late and closes early...

mumble jumble

My first test in uni is tomorrow. well, Sort of. I've completed 10% of my comm course with a little question answer thing and a short summary of an article. Tomorrows test is Bio. its a formative test, and the result is not taken into account for our final assesment. So we're not too stressed out about it and that's why i'm here blogging :)
I finish class tomorrow at 9am in the morning. then im done for the day! But i havent been doing much work so im planning to spend my morning in the library...

So. life has been good. We made dumplings for dinner on sunday. This weekend's plan is 'bak kut teh' haha. I haven't been a complete pig tho. i've been jogging. and at the moment i've checked out the botanic gardens, up and down torrens river and jogging round the oval... its not so nice there. dry and bare. blah... its nice to jog along the river tho. lots of swans, ducks, and other birds. oh and we saw a couple of baby swans on tuesday :) tres mignon! but the mum swan was staring us down everytime we got anywhere close...

oh and i saw the cutest thing at the park yesterday-
This guy was on one knee and he was hugging this girl and in his hands was this little box... one with hinges. and she was being all giggly and happy. one can only guess what had just happened...

Anyway, this has absolutely no connection whatsoever with what ive written so far... But some things have been getting on my nerves recently.
When i say i'll give you a call, i will. If i say i'll meet up with someone at a certain time, i try my best to. If i forget, or i can't make it- i will tell that person, and apologise if an apology is necessary. I don't understand why its so hard to keep simple promises (although its not officially a Promise) like that. Some people don't seem to think it's important to stick to their words at all. If you don't plan on calling- don't say you will. If you know you cannot make an appointment on time, or cannot make it at all- tell before hand! oh, and one more thing, when people are waiting, don't take your own sweet time. It's plain rude. I'm sure most of you agree with me...

surprising thing is, im not in the moody mood tonight. im actually feeeling quite cheery. last night i was moody. thank god i didnt write that last night :P

i'm feeling extremely frustrated today for some reason.
i hate having to think of what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. and when you dont feel like eating you still have to think of what to eat for later in the day...

Yesterday chem was a disaster... water wouldnt boil, then changed bunsen burner and bunsen burner's rubber tube broke, changed bunsen burner again and by the time we started our experiment we were pretty far behind everyone.
then we got our results and it was completely off so we got 0/3 for that component. great.

Then i got home and checked my mailbox and i got mail from uni.

"Members of the Selection Committee considered your application carefully but, unfortunately, your application was unsuccessful"

but we havent even had any tests yet, how are they judging us!???

anyway that was yesterday.

today was better actually... i got up on time for lecture (last week i almost missed it...:P) i got home and got some rest, then did quite a bit of work. Went to the malaysian association AGM which was almost a complete waste of time if not for the free pizza (which wasnt that great anyway...) and i found out that there are other people who read my blog...

at around 2 i had bioprac which lasted 4 hours cuz we work very slow.... anyway i met some new people. and i got a couple of plants. :) (we worked with petunia plant i think its called.. and since were the last class he said if we wanted to, we can take back the plants.. so i took a couple.it had pretty flowers. if it dies then ill throw away.not that hard... :P) by the time i got back it was almost 6:30.

long day, but not bad. andi dont know why im so frustrated.

oh yeah. adelaide fringe started ysterday so last night we went to see the opening events which had some pretty interesting things. but im falling asleep on my computer now so im going to bed and ill probaly never be bothered to write about it but i might. so stay tuned and goodnight :)

Before i started uni there was so many things i wanted to do...
join the surfing club, learn ballroom dancing, maybe try something completely new and if possible join a band (well, more like one of those we had at school like symphonic band...)
but now i'm here all im doing at the moment is ultimate frisbee (which is actually very fun and good exercise!)
surfing sounds too cold
ballroom dancing costs a bomb
and theres no such thing as an orchestral band in uni.

im not surprised tho. i sort of expected that. but at least im doing something.

i really shouldnt be online at this time. i planned to go over my chem before prac tomorrow...
but maybe ill just go straight to bed.
g0odnight.

first week

i just finished my first week of uni and i'm alive! :) i guess since its my first week i really SHOULD be alive. lots of introductions and simple revision work. Plus there was no tutorials for chem and math which reduces my number of classes. All of that will happen next week though. and on top of that i already have homework now so i really should keep on top of my work :P

SO this weekend ill make sure i get whats going on in chem, make notes for bio, and finish bioprac homework which is quite a lot!

about knowing whats going on in chem... my lecturer doesnt really stop. she goes on and on even with questions, its like ok. heres an example and heres the answers. without even giving us some time to read through or try it... and whats worse is her voice. she mumbles sometimes and she speaks in this monotone voice...
at least we dont have 2 hour lectures for chem. we have 3 1hr session. but i don tknow if thats really better. it means we need to meet her 3 times a week.

Anyway im VERY glad i did bio in IB. At the rate they're going in lectures i wonder how the people who don't do bio understand whats going on. we had a 1 hr lecture today about cells and went through everything in a eukaryote cell, and he even managed to talk about ribosomes and the synthesis of protein from DNA... oh and we ended the lecture talking about mitochondrions and ADP+p= atp i mean, if u never did bio i dont think u'd know what atp is. i didnt know until we studied that in grd 12... and to think bio isnt a prerequisite for most courses. im glad we dont do much physics. thers some in chem but its just the gas laws and stuff which we did in class anyway.

I hate the lecture hall tables! so far we've used 3 different lecture halls. the one in the picture below is the best one. its all nice and new and colorful and the tables are good. in the other 2 halls, the tables are those on the side... and they KEEP ON FALLING! well, thankfully it hasnt happened to me yet (at least not during the lecture) but sometime in the middle of the lecture, without fail, at least a couple of people's tables would fall.. and everythign would fall... and the tables are so small! and in math say you want to have a calculator on the table, with the notes, and maybe some spare paper or something and thers just NO place. and i like to make my notes colorful and readible so i need many pens and thers no place for them on the table mainly cuz the table sorta leans forward a bit so everythignw ill just roll down and cannot write if my book is straight so i cant use my book to stop them rolling...
probably not making sense to you but whatever. the point is- the lecture hall tables suck and i like school tables so much better . you can put anything anywhere and it wont roll off or fall down and thers a lot more space!

aynway my comm tutorial has 12 people and thats nice. i thinkew have the oldest and youngest pharmacy student in the class. thers a guy whos 16 turning 17 this year, and a guy whos had another degree, and owns his own business already and just wants to study this for job security and all that. its weird.

I think i've rambled enough about school.

my housemate cooks. so i have lots to eat all the time... at the rate im eating i might put on weight even before winter starts! btw it was about 39degC today. it was hot. but i ate like a pig anyway. its horrible.

i need to learn how to make a good omelete. my omelette today ended up looking like scrambled eggs. tasted fine tho.
i need to learn a lot of things.

hmmph. its the weekend again. and i got no plans.
i should study. but i need to go out and have some fun. im bored. ive been bored for too long.

anyway today i met a malay girl in my bioprac class (she sat next to me). when we were going home i found out she lives in the same apartment as me. what a coincidence.. there were a couple of other malay girls in that class. and the one who lives in my apartment sat next to me. so i found another neighbour from malaysia.

ok enough rambling. back to work? no i think ill visit my friends if theyre in and chill abit then work.... :) but i WILL work this weekend. dont worry!
